The store in Zurich for women aged 30 to 60 who have little time (Entrepreneurs, here's a good example to learn from)
To get some dollars (certificates of appreciation as Rabbi Daniel Lapin somewhere once called them), let's REALLY serve the customer so that he appreciates what we do.
And one good example to follow which I can share with you is the store I visited yesterday Wednesday August 2nd in the heart of the old town in Zurich. The store had some funny plaques next to the main door that made me curious and sort-of invited me in.
I was actually looking for a postcard which I could possibly make good use of, so I took a look at what postcards were on display on a rack in the store.
I then also noticed some magnets with sayings on them. The funniest saying to me as I remember, said something like "When you enter the house, please take off your shoes and don't take better shoes with you when you leave."
Ok, then I went to the cashier and bought a magnet to gift to someone and then, when I had a little chat with her, I asked her who the specific target audience for the store is. She then gave me a really specific answer, namely "women aged 30 to 60 who have little time."
The addition of the phrase "who have little time" is actually really interesting to me. They have a REALLY specific target audience as it seems. But I think that's a good thing, because in this way, they can cater really good to that target audience. The shop mostly sells jewellery but also postcards, plaques and magnets with sayings on them and also a dog-memory and a cat-memory where you can find out who is the owner of which animal. Basically think of "hey! you look exactly like your dog/cat" (not meant in a rude or bad way but just in a funny way because the owner of the animal has a really similar face like the animal) - that's what the games seemed to be about.
And when I probed into why she said that the store is specifically for women who have little time, she explained that because the store sells things from different categories, it can in this way help the customers to get multiple things of what they need from the same store - and thus it can help them to avoid having to frequent multiple stores to get everything that they need - and thus it can help them to avoid losing precious time.
It's not completely like a one-shop-for-everything, but in one way it can be compared to the Migros, in that there you can also get a lot of things at the same store, thus helping you to save time that you would otherwise lose by going from store to store until you have everything that you need to buy.
The cashier also explained to me that the store would also be frequented by people around Christmas time, when the customers can get gifts for multiple people (or multiple gifts) in the same store.
Thanks to you, dear cashier, for what I learned from you! I wish you a lot of good and nice interactions with a lot of customers to come, and that you and your work can continue to be a blessing to a lot of people!
PS: The shop I was talking about this whole time is called "Antares" and is located at "Münstergasse 9, 8001 Zürich, Switzerland".
